The Voyager Portable Media (VPM) is a ruggedized USB flash memory data storage device with a USB 2.0 (universal serial bus) interface. It is removable and rewritable, small format and weighs <60 g.
The VPM is extremely reliable because of a lack of moving parts. Its compact design has a casing specially designed to be used with the Voyager Digital Media Server on a day-to-day basis by coach drivers. It is easy to insert due to a unique insertion guide:
- Drivers can easily insert the VPM even on the move without having to take their eyes off the road.
- Prevents damage to the Digital Media Server
There are two different capacity USB Drives currently
available:
- VPM8GB which provides 5 hours of playback
- VPM16GB which provides 10 hours of playback
There are many advantages to using USB drives compared to other media. USB drives remain undamaged, allowing up to 1 million write or erase cycles and 10-year data retention; they can carry much larger volumes of information and take up less space. USB drives show a steady improvement in size and price per gigabyte.
The most important advantage is that combined with our Play List Manager software it is possible to create a seamless programme of clips, shorts and films incorporating adverts, cartoons, safety films, movies and more. USB drives are a high capacity, low cost storage solution for our Infotainment system providing top quality media and endless flexibility.
