For the Voyager™ Infotainment system PT Tronix has developed a high quality of service (high Hi-QoS) data communication networking infrastructure. This is eminently suitable for the streaming of digital audio and video data in a public transport vehicle environm­ent. The CX Bus (CXB) is the technology of choice for Voyager™ Infotainment systems because it is:

 

  • Fast – offers a number of different versions starting from 12Mb/s.
  • Flexible – the network infrastructure can be easily tailored to any coach layout.
  • Future Proof – the system can easily be upgraded throughout the life span of a coach.

 

Voyager™ networking is based on mature technology. It is straightforward to install during the vehicle manufacturing process and easy to repair during the lifetime of the vehicle. This results in a very low total cost of ownership.

 

CXB is an Interface standard which specifies interconnections between Voyager™ devices to aid a robust system operation. It handles all the electrical and physical specifications dealing with the interaction between Voyager™ devices and the Unshielded Twisted Pair cable (UTP) e.g. automatic establishment and termination of a connection to the network, digital data flow control, signal encoding etc.

 

CXB provides the functional means to transfer data between Voyager™ devices free of transmission errors. It provides addressing and channel access control mechanisms that make it possible for Voyager™ devices to communicate within a multipoint network. Most importantly it offers a robust method for the transfer of bit streams over the network.
 

        

 

Voyager™ data communication networking offers:
